21 Dec Konda Kondi Cafe and Bistro, Ipoh
If you have been following our food trails, you would have noticed that we have been reviewing on local restaurants in Ipoh all this while, whether it is near to our M Roof Hotel & Residence or M Boutique Ipoh or even M Boutique Station 18. This time round, we decided to go for a dinner session in a Malay Cafe by the name of Konda Kondi Cafe and Bistro.
Hip, happening and alchohol-free. Konda Kondi Cafe & Bistro is one of the happening Malay cafe for the Muslim youngsters to flock for their good food or good music since their first opening in 2015. It is owned by two brothers, Aznil and Azril offering mexican food such as homemade pasta, tacos, burgers and some light bites like honey chicken wings and popcorn chicken. For non-mexican fans, they do offer some local delicacies like Nasi Ayam Hitam with Teh O Ais which is one of the set dinner on offered in the first page of the menu.
After eye-rolling on the menu, we have ordered about 6-8 main course and 2 snacks for a start. We have ordered Nasi Ayam Hitam and Chicken Chop Grilled with Black Pepper Sauce from the Set Dinner menu which comes with a cup of drinks with a dessert, nachos el capitan, honey chicken wings, spaghetti carbonara, Giant Dinner, Taco El Carambas and Chicken Lava Burger. Since the interior is very unique and full of vintage recycled furniture, we started to take selfies of our group. Let the photos do the talking…..
First Group Shot
Luckily we went there early at around 7.00pm as the crowd began to come in around 730pm. A prior reservation has always been recommended especially when you’re with a big group of people as they got only 2 big tables to cater for a big group like us – 8 people in a table. We kick start our dinner with Honey Chicken Wings and Nachos El Capitan followed by Chicken Chop Grilled with Black Pepper sauce. Chicken wings and Nachos has nothing great to shout about but I must say they do serve good chicken chop except it is a little bit spicy, to begin with. Not too long after that, Spaghetti Carbonara came with Chicken Lava Burger. Be cautious to those who do not take beef, you might want to consider ordering another type of pasta as it only comes with beef or nothing else. However, the pasta is rather salty in my personal opinion. Chicken Lava Burger is one of the recommended dishes by the waiter and they surely did not lie about it. The chicken is tender with their homemade sauce and topped up with a slice of juicy pineapple which makes it taste like sweet and sour in my opinion – perfect combination. Giant Dinner is the combination of chicken chop, sausages, sunny-side-up, some french fries with Bolognaise sauce. A small warning for the small eaters, you might want to get someone to share with you as the portion is rather big which we think can be shared between 2 people.
Overall, the meal was considered not bad for its price as it is the regular cafe food price for each main course cost about RM18.00++ per plate. We spent about RM150.00 for a total 8 of us including the snacks and drinks. Our ratings? its about 7/10 as some of the dish is a little bit salty.
