De Bois

Watching the busy traffic at Medan Gopeng, the M Makan Kaki’s stomach is growling in anticipation of our approaching dinner at De Bois Cafe. Mundane roads turn into eclectic terrace houses, highlighted by the bright sparkling yellow rooftop ‘De Bois’ signboard with spacious parking.

Miker Pizza

There is something about the combination of crispy dough, melted cheese, meat and greens in a pizza that makes it so easy to love and enjoy by people. Who can resist a slice or two of heaven that gives you a sensational taste in every bite you take? Only pizza can make you experience this delectable sensory experience. There are numerous pizza restaurants in Ipoh that serve up really exquisite pizzas, but one of the best haunts serving mouth-watering selection of thin-crust pizzas with generous ingredients is Miker’s.

Ramadhan Bazaar at Ipoh Stadium

The Holy month of Ramadhan is a significant and important time for Muslims all over. Without a doubt, there are some who will ask about the significance of this holy month. Generally, Ramadhan is known to Muslims as one of the most important season where they perform their devotion to garner good merits and for rest of us, a ‘food festival’ of sorts. In conjunction with Ramadhan, the M Kaki Makan collectively decided to venture to the Ipoh Stadium’s Bazaar Ramadhan, as our food review.

Cathay Restaurant

Nestled in the historical town of Ipoh, sits a small traditional restaurant along Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar (Osborne Street) that serves one of the best Hainanese Chicken Chop. At first glance, the shop does not attract your attention but don’t be fooled by its outlook. For decades, they have been pampering the taste buds of Ipoh Mali for generations. I first heard about this restaurant from our baby boomer family member who is an avid foodie, who used to come here when he was just a child. It’s a delight for a youngster like me to see how the restaurant has been holding up. Decked with marble tables and tiled walls, it was a trip back to the 70s. Cathay Restaurant offers Hainanese chops, steamed bread, French toast, half boiled eggs, Chinese dishes with rice, coffee and tea. There are also food stalls which are open for breakfast. Surrounding the restaurant are office blocks, and knew that we had to beat the lunch crowd.
